M.I.A. – XXXO (Youtube)

Oh lordy. Someone’s only gone and let MIA make a video, and I’m not entirely sure why. Mainly that’s because this has already come out, reaching the lofty heights of 26 in the UK Singles Chart, and also because it’s not very good. It’s just a bunch of clipart Hype Williams found on his Macbook.

Perhaps most damning is the fact that this track sounds a lot better without the vocal track. Seriously, the instrumental is a fun piece of pop/electronic type noise, but with her slurred vocals one top it’s little better than average. The iPhone and Twitter references are especially cringeworthy.

A half decent track but there doesn’t seem to have been much heart put into it, even though I’m sure a lot of money and time was. Diasppointing scenes.
