I can’t imagine there are many bands that would want their music to send people to sleep. Listening to a band’s music as you drift off to sleep is another matter entirely, though.
Moon Safari, Air’s seminal 1998 release, is one of my favourite albums of all time. We’re talking top ten here. Often unfairly lambasted as dinner party and gardening show music, it’s a beautiful record that bears up to repeat listening.
Whenever I’m unable to sleep, I put this album on, and by All I Need I’m usually under. There’s something exquisite about Beth Hirsch’s voice on this – soothing, beautiful, sincere.
Next time you can’t sleep, you couldn’t do much better than lying back and trying this.
