MGMT – Flash Delirium (official site)

A particularly surreal start to your Tuesday morning here (two posts in two days – I’m amazed as well), with the brand new MGMT video.

It’s taken from Congratulations, the follow up to their epic self titled debut, and has widely been described as the album that might end their career. On first listen, I agreed as well.

I’ve never known a song grow on me as much as this one, though – aspects of Roxy Music and Bowie grate at first before becoming relentlessly catchy, not to mention exciting.

The video itself doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but that’s part of the charm. I won’t spoil any of it for you, suffice to to say that MGMT go somewhere and some unexpected things happen. Might not be one to watch with your lunch, though.

According to the press release, Congratulations is out through Columbia on the 12th April. It might well be worth a listen.
