Warpaint – Elephants (Youtube)

Oh, now this I like. Could it be the vaguely ethereal women playing guitars in the video? Almost certainly! But it’s also to do with the fact that this is a rather tasty slice of nouvelle ambient indie.

The looping guitars, the echoey vocals, the fact that it sounds like the singer is drowning at several points during the song make it all a bit atmospheric. Which is nice. There’s also some time signature changes in there for the musos among you.

Just when you think it’s slowing down to a finish,it builds up again with a Cure-esque bassline. It’s quite an experience, one I recommend letting wash over you.
