The Very Best – Warm Heart of Africa (mtvU)

This track, featuring the vocal stylings of Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend (who’s outstanding track Cousins I featured a few weeks ago) was one of the unexpected smashes of last summer. So quite why the record label has decided to drop a video for it now, in cold, dark January, is beyond me. Maybe they’re trying to cash in on the African Cup of Nations.

Well, for whatever reason it’s a fantastic track, and an appropriately quirky video. Throw in some green screen and some city streets, and you’ve got the perfect backdrop for a riotously uptempo summer jam. In January.

At least there isn’t any snow about at the moment or it really would be bittersweet.
