29 Jan 2010Charlotte Gainsbourg featuring Beck – Heaven Can Wait (Youtube)
I very much enjoyed the first track from Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new album, IRM, the single itself being eponymous. I’m always interested to hear what Beck is up to as well, so when I got word they were teaming up I was expecting something exciting. And they’ve duly delivered.
Keith Schofield has directed a visually stunning video, consisting of surreal non-linear vignettes, with Beck and Gainsbourg getting involved . It’s inspired by the idea of “found photos” – amateur shots bought at markets or found in the street, and it’s a great idea to build a video around. Top marks!
How Beck perpetually looks twelve years old I’ll never know, but as long as he’s involved in music as enjoyable as this it doesn’t really matter.
