Silversun Pickups – Substitution (Youtube)

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about Silversun Pickups, oh no. Way back in May I gave their then single Panic Switch a tasty little write up. Interestingly enough, after i got into the album then I’d pretty much left it alone. Until now!

Substitution is the new single, and it’s really rather lovely. More downtempo, slower, and carefully considered that some of the other tracks on Swoon, it’s just about right for a release this time of year. It gets an interesting little video as well – eight ladies all playing musical chairs, which takes on a darker mood than you might think.

The album’s worth a listen if you get the time, particularly if you’re a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins or indeed My Bloody Valentine. Which is rather fitting, seeing as I’m off to see them this weekend at All Tomorrow’s Parties: Nightmare Before Christmas. Be assured, a write-up will follow!
