9 Dec 2009Familjen – Det snurrar i min skalle (Youtube)
Bit of a departure here – this isn’t technically a new song at all. And I mean really not at all, because it came out in 2007. However, it is new to me, and essentially that allows me to justify it. And plus, you guys get to hear a great new track. It’s in a foreign language and everything!
I hadn’t heard of Familjen until this track, but as soon as the pummeling bass hit in and the vocals got going, I was hooked. The video’s pretty excellent as well, and it’s keeping my spirits up pretty darn nicely considering how rubbish the weather is in London at the moment.
In other news, I went to All Tomorrow’s Parties at the weekend, and have written up a tasty little web review that you can see over at the BBC 6 Music website. I think it’s rather good, and if you don’t like it, you have to deal with the BBC. That’s just how we roll.
Welcome to Bitter Fingers - a blog about popular song. Written by the hand of Mark Higgins, it serves up the very finest in new music, radio shows, spurious comment and #1 jams.

Familjen are awesome and the album ‘Det snurrar i min skalle’ is excellent! I love it. I’ve been trying to convince various 6 Music DJs to play some on air for the past two years without any success!

I was amazed I hadn’t heard of them until now, and I imagine a few others had missed out too. Lammo would probably give it a spin, but I doubt we’ve got the CD!
