Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets (Youtube)

“Bit late in the year for yet another electro-type female to come along, isn’t it Mark?” you might be asking. And with good cause too, given that we’ve been blessed with the likes of the sublime Little Boots, the not-quite-as-good La Roux and the ethereal Florence and the Machine. But no, you’re wrong, because this track is brilliant.

I don’t know a lot about Ellie Goulding, but this track has grown on me over the last few weeks no end. It’s a nicely put together electro-pop track with a great chorus, and she’s got a pretty decent voice which is about all I need. Oh, and there’s a bit in the video where she drums and glitter flies in the air and that is awesome.

Predictably an album is on the way, produced by Mark Ronson, which should make for interesting listening. Looking forward to hearing more from Herefordshire’s finest.

Anyway, today’s my birthday, so I’m going to get back to shoving my face in some cake and arranging my cards. Toodle pip!
