31 Oct 2009Weezer – (If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To (Babelgum)
It would be fair to say Weezer are one of my favourite bands. I mean, I have all their albums, and spin-off projects, and unreleased demos, so you could say I kind of like them.
The song was written with American-type Butch Walker, and there’s certainly a level of upbeat poppiness that you don’t get from Cuomo’s solo writing. It’s the thunderous singalong chorus that really sells it though, and this has to be a contender for pop single of the year if we’re going on catchiness alone.
Great single and great album, then. I’ve stuck with Weezer during critical acclaim, the times when not everyone were fans, and live in hope that they’ll keep releasing self titled albums for a good few years yet. On the basis of new album Raditude (and what a title that is) they should be around for a while yet.
Oh, and happy Halloween everyone! Have fun dressing up as ghosts, hustling old people for sweets or whatever else you people do at this time of year.
