I’ve been a bit fan of Cursive ever since I first heard Some Red Handed Sleight of Hand, a track on The Ugly Organ which is unparalleled in terms of raw energy by anything else in my music collection. They’ve just dropped a new album, Mama, I’m Swollen, and whilst it’s a departure from the CDs they’ve put out before I can’t help but love it. From The Hips is the first single from that album, and whilst it shows a softer side of the band there’s a lot of energy in there as well.
They’re on tour in the US in April, and allegedly they’re popping over to the UK for a couple of shows in May. One of the best live bands I’ve seen – Tim Kasher doesn’t look the most urgent frontman at the best of times, but he’s something special to hear live.
Welcome to Bitter Fingers - a blog about music. Written by the hand of Mark Higgins, it serves up the very finest in new music videos, plus classic tracks and any other ace stuff he can think of.
